Part 2: Walk for Hope

December 7th, 2014

After participating in Books for The Blind, I joined Walk for Hope.
It was another voluntary activity held by FENCY COMMUNITY (Fellowship of Netra Community) to celebrate International Volunteer Day on December 5th each year.
The volunteers and blind people were walking together from Bundaran Hotel Indonesia/Bundaran HI (Hotel Indonesia Roundabout) to Monumen Nasional/Monas (National Monument)

I worn blind fold as pretendind to be blind and was walking behind Mr. Wawan, a blind man. Walking with his stick, Mr. Wawan became a guide for me. Meanwhile, another volunteer was walking at the righ side of Mr. Wawan by holding his hand. For the first time, it was kind of weird for me and I couldn't stand to wear the blind fold and put it off for a while...I felt a bit fear hehe, but after some time, I was used to walk in that condition.

Arriving in the finish line, we got goodie bag, took rest and were having our brunch, white rice+fried chicken.

Then, we continued walking to go inside Monas. I met another volunteer, Novi (whom I had ever met in start line) with two blind couple, Mr. Jaja and his 41 years old wife.
In the museum area, all the participants were sitting on the floor to take another rest. We might choose to go up to top of Monas (but we had to wait in long queue) or to go home. Mr. Jaja and his wife chose to go home. So did I. Then, I accompanied them to go outside Monas, holding hands ind hands, untill I met other volunteer girls who helped me to guide Mr. Jaja, while I guided his wife.
